Q: OK, so why don't you make a "One-Size Fits All" protective enclosure, kiosk or bezel? A: One word answer. UGLY. We pride ourselves on design, fit and finish. We have no interest in putting our name on an oversize, ungainly, refrigerator-like enclosure. If that is what you want, Digital Factory's uniquely designed and attractive products are not for you.
Q: How do I obtain pricing for an enclosure or protective bezel? A: We work with integrators, architects, consultants, audio-video system designers and established A/V dealers only. We have standard pricing based on previous designs and we will work with you to determine specific price levels based on quantities, fit, display sizes, accessories and finish. Our goal is to build-in sufficient value so that you can resell at a decent margin. We do not publish MSRP for any of our products.
We are also very loyal to our existing client base and will not knowingly quote a competing dealer. There are occasions when we will provide bid pricing for government and similar projects, but we will establish a special pricing level for the first company to "register" a project with us. Please contact our sales team for more information on this program.
Q: If I buy a custom kiosk or other structure from you do I own the design? A: To save cost, we provide most of our initial design and engineering free of charge. The trade off is that you will not have ownership of the design unless we come to a contractual agreement. Exclusivity requires a negotiated payment for intellectual property and the engineering time invested by us.
For most customers, our designs are unique enough that owning the rights is not an issue. If the design becomes complicated due to specific or unique requirements we may add NRE (non-recurring engineering) fees, however, the payment of NRE is not applicable to ownership of the design unless previously agreed.
Q: What is your lead time for custom products? A: We wish we were able to crank these things out overnight, but quality and Perfected Protection™ takes time. Our goal is to deliver a custom product in four weeks or less. The Digital Factory production team uses a "clock" analogy to begin working on an order. To start the clock ticking, that is to say we will promise a certain "lead time" for custom fabrication, our sales team has to compile and present a complete package to production.
This usually consists of drawing sign-off's indicating acceptance of the design; a purchase order and order form; a deposit when required; and an engineering sign-off on the particular display to be used.
If we have not worked with the display previously, or if it is a new model, to guarantee fit we must obtain CAD files from the manufacturer or, alternatively, measure the display at our design studio. Digital Factory maintains an excellent relationship with all major display manufacturers, but if we cannot obtain the CAD files we need by request, the display needs to be shipped to us for fitup prior to the start of fabrication.
Q: Do you sell Displays or complete Digital Signage solutions?
A: Digital Factory does not sell or recommend display hardware or software solutions. We are "technologically agnostic" which means we will work with any equipment and/or display system you wish us to enclose and protect.
We urge you to do your homework and choose your content delivery and display systems carefully prior to contacting us for enclosure, bezel or kiosk needs.
Q: Why don't you have more pictures and designs on your website?
A: Well, we certainly would like to! A couple of factors are at work here. First off, this is a very competitive world we live in. Unfortunately, several of our unique designs have been copied directly from our previous website.
Although we are certain our "overseas" competitors cannot achieve the level of quality we provide, it's disheartening to realize some folks just can't play fair. Secondly, many of our designs are created specifically for clients who prefer we do not show their Digital Factory designed enclosure or kiosk on our website for the very same reason.
We respect our customers privacy and we've elected not to show many of our coolest and most successful designs on our website. We can tell you where to go see them in person, however...
Take a ride on a Ferry Boat in Seattle, see a game at Shea Stadium in New York, watch the Indiana Pacers play basketball at Conseco Fieldhouse, have an operation at the Mayo Clinic, check out the Mars Lander Spacecraft Assembly Building at JPL/NASA, confirm your flight at many major airports, select from a menu at several national food chain stores, visit the Smithsonian, walk up to a kiosk at the US Patent Office in Washington, DC, go to the mall and see what's on sale, or just head to Vegas and put ten on the black. The list goes on and on.
We're very proud of our clients accomplishments and we are thrilled to play a small part in their success.
